Matt Redman wrote a worship song called You Alone Can Rescue that I love. Some of the lyrics are:
Who, oh Lord, could save themselves,
Their own soul could heal?
Our shame was deeper than the sea
Your grace is deeper still
You alone can rescue, You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave
You came down to find us, led us out of death
To You alone belongs the highest praise
You can listen to the song here and I would encourage you to do so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oFpbQrC7vY
If life were just about making money, being successful and having certain accomplishments, I really wouldn’t need God all that much. I can pretty much take care of that on my own. In my mind however, having those things may be a part of having a good life but they don’t come anywhere close to bringing ultimate fulfillment. I want to live a life of freedom, of joy, of power and  of victory. I want to fulfill the call that God has on my life and I don’t want to settle for anything less than that.
The problem is that this means being transformed from the inside out and conquering inner demons that I simply can’t defeat on my own. This is why I love that worship song. Jesus came into this world to be our Savior and Redeemer. When our strength ends, we can begin to understand what it means to lean on his strength. I think that for guys especially we are expected to be strong and have it all together. We’re not supposed to show our weakness and we’re supposed to be able to handle everything. Sometimes I get tired of being so strong. I’m thankful for my relationship with Jesus because he is strong even when I’m not. In the times when I just want to run and hide, his grace is right there to carry me through.
No matter what pit you may be in or what struggle you may going through, you don’t have to depend on yourself. Do you ever get tired of being so strong? There is another strength in the universe that never grows weary or faint. Jesus loves you and paid the ultimate price for you so that you could be in relationship with him. Have you received that invitation?
