I think we all understand that the winds in this life can get really intense. Sometimes we probably all just want to throw in the towel. The higher up the mountain we aspire to go, the more difficult it will get. I’ve been going through the 70 resolutions of Jonathan Edwards and his 32nd resolution is…

Resolved, To be strictly and firmly faithful to my trust, that that, in Prov. xx. 6. ‘A faithful man, who can find?’ may not be partly fulfilled in me.

Opposition comes from a lot of different directions but it’s always there. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t times I just wanted to quit. Times when the winds of life seemed to be able to tear apart my little boat. Jesus has absolutely been my strength. He’s been my source of love, encouragement, peace and vision. Those of you who are following him will understand what I mean when I say….I’m not going to quit….I’m going to the top of the mountain or I will die trying.

This is what Edwards was talking about here. He was going to be faithful. He was going to persevere through the winds and the storms. I don’t pretend to know what you’re going through. It’s probably harder than I can understand. Maybe you’ve already checked out in some ways. My encouragement to you would be that God loves you so much. He’s sees everything about you and will give you what you need to persevere. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and….do not quit. It will be worth it all in the end…I promise.
