Regardless of your age, your gender, your socioeconomic status or your locale, God is calling you to trust him completely. I don’t have to know a single thing about you to know that. If you have a pulse, God is calling you to trust him.

If you are anything like me, you invent reasons why trusting God is not smart in the present situation. “I would trust you but this financial situation…” ” I would trust you in this relational situation but…” Sound familiar?

Trust him completely. We can’t get around the fact that if we are trusting him completely, we are making a theological statement. If we are not trusting him completely, we are also making a theological statement. If we are trusting him with our lives, then we are saying that God is trustworthy. If we aren’t trusting him completely, we are saying that he is not trustworthy.

What theological statement is your life making? Trustworthy or not? Are you comfortable with that statement?

The well-known theologian A.W. Tozer said that what a man believed to be true about God is the most important thing about him. If we believe and live as though God is trustworthy then we have strong reasons and experiences to substantiate this belief. If we believe and live as though God were not trustworthy then we also have strong reasons and experiences to substantiate that belief.

I think the most important way to progress in this area is to continue the conversation. Find a close friend that you can talk to about this and see where it takes you. If you’re in the habit of journaling or talking to God regularly, this would be a great thing to talk to him about.
