I don’t know about you guys but I love to be prepared. I’m not a big fan of winging it. When it comes to competition, I’m a big believer that the game is won way before you show up to the field.
When it comes to my Christian journey, I feel the same way. I’ve found that this can be helpful, but it can also be a challenge. You see, I want God to give me everything I need for my whole life right now. I want to learn all the lessons and get all the wisdom and get all the maturity right now. That whole day to day trust thing is for the birds!! Or maybe not…
Yesterday I feel like God gently reminded me of an important principle. Matthew 6:11 says, “Give us today our daily bread.” Jesus was teaching his disciples to pray and this was one component of the prayer. He didn’t say, “Give us this month our daily bread.” He instructed his disciples to trust God for today and then to do the same thing the next day. He told them to live one day at a time.
For some reason I didn’t think that applied to me. I thought that I could stockpile the bread so that I wouldn’t have to trust as much. That has not worked out. So now I’m seeking to make a significant change in my walk with God. I’m going to try to trust him just for today….and then the next day…and then the next day. Each day is a gift and I am going to try to take each day as it comes. I hope you join me.
