As of today I’ve been a follower of Christ for 13 years. It has been an absolutely incredible journey and I’ve learned so much along the way. That being said, there has been one lesson that for me has been the most important. For the longest time I believed that God and people could not be trusted. My understanding was that you should not open up to anyone because this world will shatter your dreams and break your heart. I truly believed that the best way to live was to play it safe and not be vulnerable.

I believed that God was a stern judge that tolerated me more than he loved me. Once I came to truly believe that God is Love….my story began to change. I began to understand that I could trust God and that I could really open up to people. Understanding that God is love made me realize that the world was a lot brighter than I thought. That behind all the chaos and confusion there is a divine love that spoke this whole world into existence. I began to understand God as the author of a story that truly will have a triumphant ending.

If you were to ask me what the most important thing is that I’ve learned as a Christian, I would tell you that God is love. That he has an amazing heart and that trusting him will never be a mistake.
