I’m working through the book of Proverbs and chapter 10:3 says, 

The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

Sometimes I think we all doubt the intentions of God. It would be easy for all of us to wonder whether or not someone up there is actually in charge and how good they really are at their job. I would have to say that there have been times I’ve even thought that things would be better if I got to make the decisions instead of Him. I realize this is an incredibly arrogant mindset but I have struggled with it from time to time.

The truth however, that scripture asserts over and over is that God is a loving Father who carefully watches over his children. Those who intentionally keep God at a distance find themselves ultimately empty-handed based on what this passage is saying. Does this verse mean that everyone who lives surrendered to God is rich and without any needs? We would be hard-pressed to answer yes to that question. That being said, I do believe that all of God’s kids would have to affirm that they have an incredible Father watching over them who provides for their needs at the right time and in the right way. There are times when what I think I need and what God seems to think I need are two different things but that’s to be expected.

If we find ourselves perpetually frustrated and without our needs being met, we must humbly ask if we are surrendering our lives to the Author of life. He has designed humanity to live a certain way and if we stubbornly refuse to submit to his intentions for us, we should not be surprised when our lives are lived outside of his loving provision.
