As much as some people might like to forget this truth, we do not live in a morally neutral universe. There is right and there is wrong. It’s not all about subjectivity and just finding what works for you and for me. Proverbs 10:29 says…

The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless, but it is the ruin of those who do evil.

For those that seek to follow God, his ways are a refuge. His commands provide a certain sense of clarity and an assurance that life is being lived the way that it was meant to be lived. On the other hand, those who think freedom lies in doing whatever they want will find difficulty with God’s commands. As I said, we don’t live in a morally neutral universe. Even when you try to block this truth out and live however you want to, there will be a nagging sense inside of you that you are not living as you should.

You see, our souls work similarly to our bodies in that they have a way of telling us when things are right and when things are wrong. If you are rejecting God’s commands and refusing to walk with him, you are going to know it. His ways will be your ruin. They will keep you from really being able to enjoy a life of sin. If however, you seek to follow God with all your heart, his ways will feel like water on thirsty ground. They will guide you into greater and greater planes of freedom until you see your Creator face to face.

God’s commands are good and he has our best interest at heart. Are his ways a delight to you right now or are they the nagging sense that life is not as it should be? You get to decide what his ways means to you.
