I think we can all attest to the fact that the trials of life can be pretty dark. Our staff lost one of our Pastors last night to a fluke heart attack. He was a fairly healthy guy and just like that, his life on earth ended. He is leaving behind a wife and kids that I’m sure have tons of questions and pain.

I was reflecting on a passage of scripture found in 2 Corinthians chapter 12. Paul is talking about a dark trial that he is going through and he pleads with the Lord to take it away from him. Jesus responds to him by saying in 2 Corinthians 12:9, ““My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Jesus is saying this to all of his children regardless of where they live or what they’re going through. Sometimes I don’t feel like his grace is sufficient. Sometimes I feel like I need a lot more than what he is offering. The truth however, is that his grace was sufficient yesterday, it is sufficient today and will be sufficient tomorrow.

The Greek word for grace is charis and it means, “of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues.” That’s powerful. That means that God’s sufficient grace for you today is everything you need to live the life he’s calling you to live.

The passage says that his grace is sufficient. What does sufficient mean? The Greek word is arkeo and it means, “to be possessed of unfailing strength.” Did you know that if you know Christ, you are possessed of UNFAILING STRENGTH  today. That’s incredible!

It doesn’t really matter whether we believe it or not. Dark trials have come, are coming and will come. If you know Christ however, his grace is sufficient for you. You will have unfailing strength for the road ahead.
