What’s the difference between truth and facts? The fact is that you are worried but the truth is that God has you in the palm of his hand. The fact is that you don’t have a lot of extra margin but the truth is that God is your provider. The fact is that you feel rejected but the truth is that God will never reject you. There are certain overarching truths that can cast the facts of our lives in a totally different light if only we would believe them.
I tend to be easily be intimidated by the facts. In this way I feel like I have a split personality. There is the part of me that exclusively focuses on the facts of the matter. I don’t feel very good some days. Some days I feel worried. My work doesn’t always seem to make a difference. But then there is another side of me that focuses on the truth. God will never reject me and I have nothing to worry about. Even though it may seem like my work isn’t making a difference I know that God is using me tremendously.
What are you better at focusing on: truth or facts? Do you know the difference between the two? Focusing on the truth is like trying to work on a muscle group that you don’t work on very much. For me that would be my legs. I hate lifting legs. Anytime I have ever lifted legs I am always so sore the next day. If I want my body to be proportional however and truly healthy, I have to work my legs. If you want to get better at focusing on the truth instead of always only focusing on the facts, then the time to start is now. Surround yourself with people that help you to believe what you ultimately know to be true. Read authors that help you remember what you believe in. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t focus on the facts but the truth will help you see the facts for what they really are. Facts without any truth will inevitably lead you in the wrong direction.
